   Voodoo Soup was supposed to be the outtake album that got it right. Instead, it was another in a line of botched attempts to re-create Jimi Hendrix's unfinished final studio album. For most fans, the re-recorded drum tracks by the drummer of the Knack was the most unforgivable sin, yet the album is also poorly sequenced and lacks several important tracks.5/

   Feb 12,  · I really like the opening track "The New Rising Sun" (which has nothing to do with the song "Hey Baby (New Rising Sun)"). I no longer have the Voodoo Soup CD - does anyone know how to get that track these days? I heard that it was on the West Coast Seattle Boy box, but that it has been on other collections with the title "Captain Coconut" or "MLK".

   In all fairness, this is a really good CD. It's been forgotten, pushed to the side, by the released, Hendrix-family approved "First Rays of the New Rising Sun." Due to this, Voodoo Soup has basically disappeared from stores; I remember when it was released, in , the CD was everywhere.

   Voodoo Soup shows what can be done with material that never found its definitive expression. Makes me wish the Douglas production 'Crash Landing' was still easily.
